Awhile back my friend Kelly from Knitbrooks sent me a message that put me into such a crazy happy dance, my poor husband thought I was crazy!! She told me that the team at Our Maker Life wanted to invite me to contribute a pattern to their secret project, Make: Volume 1. I have had the pleasure and honour of working with Our Maker Life in the past as a Guest Blogger on Tip Tuesday (see what I wrote here). I have always been a huge supporter of Our Maker Life because their very existence confirms my deepest belief: Collaboration over Competition is a viable way to build a business, and way more fun!! I could go on and on about this, in fact I will very soon, but that is a whole other blog post! Let's get back to Make: Volume 1, that's what this blog post is all about, so read on! I love how they explain the inspiration behind the book: "Our vision for MAKE Volume One is simple: to highlight the knit and crochet community in a beautiful, minimalist style book that in between creating our beautiful pieces, we can curl up with yarn and a warm beverage to enjoy the beauty of handmade. The Our Maker Life movement has thousands online across the world but the OML team knows, appreciates and published MAKE to help tell makers' stories that could be a page-long and lifelong treasure to cherish. In this book, you will enjoy reading a combination of moving maker stories, find inspiration from stylish lookbooks, and make amazing full pattern pieces from top makers in the handmade community! As you enjoy exclusive maker stories from We Are Knitters co-founder Alberto B. Reyes, Hailey Smedley of Ozetta, Jessica Carey of The Hook Nook, Teresa Carter of DebrosseNYC, Sharrel Paul of Mud and Yarn; full patterns from Nicole of Miskunn, Jess of Make and Do Crew, and many more, we know this book highlighting nearly 30 makers will make you laugh, cry, and perhaps best of all - inspire you to make!" Isn't that awesome?!?!?!? And excuse me while I Fangirl for a moment over that list of makers, am I right???? Here's a sneak peek of my contribution to the book, I am so proud of this!!! The photo of my son and I was taken on a day when he had a fever of 40C. It will always serve to remind me of the Momboss Tiger that I am, how I balance my passions and find fulfillment, despite the day to day challenges. This is the essence of being a creative business owner and I am so incredibly lucky to have this frozen moment in time, published in this book, that I am incredibly proud to be a part of!! You should get a copy, this book really is lovely and it is a perfect summary of the exciting moment in history that we are all part of as Makers in The Millennium. Thanks for reading friends!! xoxox Sarah
